Another Day Another Dolla........Spent

Our Community Pool
Day 23: Friday

I do not recall what we did on Friday.  Sat around the house.  Insulted each other.  Applied for jobs.  Went to sleep.

The boyfriend got an interview!!!!!!!!!!! HURRAH!!!  Sooooo excited!
It is as an intern so he probably won't get paid but he will get experience and that could lead to an actual position in his field so YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!  Happy dance!

Day 24: Saturday

Boyfriend has been wanting a third fan for awhile because he still isn't comfortable.  In Hawaii, he is used to blasting the AC unit that is IN his room and his two fans.  In conclusion, he is used to his room being like 50 degrees.  He does this so he can feel comfortable putting a comforter on.  So here, with just two fans, and AC downstairs, he is DYING.  For me, that's one more fan than I had at home.  I'm good.  But then again it's hotter here.....

So we go to Walmart to buy a fan.  I think we should just start flushing money down the toilet.  Seems easier than spending it all and it provides fun and entertainment, which we are in DIRE need of.  It actually wasn't that bad and as per usual, my exaggerating is worse than the actual price tag.  It was like $16 I believe.  That's 16 less burritos at Taco Bell that I can have *sob.*

One our way home, we noticed that our nearby pool's gate is open....the story there is that we have a pool but you need a key card or something.  The previous owner of this house apparently had one but they did not give the boyfriend's brother the key.  So now we need to pay $50 for it.  Well that's not going to happen until we get jobs.......you know, when we have no time to go.  But we see the gate is open so we decide to sneak in (what?  Technically we have rights to the pool, we just don't have the key that has already been purchased).  The pool was pretty fun but it only goes to like 5 feet and it turns out, I suck at swimming lol  I just haven't done it in forever and I have a handicap....I can't hold my breath underwater unless I hold my nose (Resume fail: No good in floods).  So races to the other side of the pool was pointless!  But it's not like we could do very much of that anyways because apparently kids like to swim as well.  And they like to bring their parents so us big kids can't put them in their place :D

Shortly after coming back from the pool, the boyfriend became CONVENIENTLY sick and left me with ALL the chores to do before we go to bed i.e. wash the dishes, clean up our meals, and basically clean the downstairs so we don't appear as slobs to the boyfriend's brother.  And on top of that, he whines for me to get him water every 5 minutes.  I don't remember ever saying "In sickness and in health."  I remember saying BOYFRIEND not husband.  Man needs to get his own water.  (Resume boost: Inspires a "can-do" attitude in others.)

Totally kidding, I'm such a good person when he is sick.  I forced him to go to bed and told him I would take care of everything.  Then I stayed up and watched TV because there was no way I was going to be able to sleep at 9:30 after we go to sleep every night at 1am these days.  But by 11pm, I was able to finally get in bed.

Day 25: Sunday

Woke up in a puddle of our own sweat.  Three fans and we are STILL excruciatingly hot.  Then, not THREE steps out of our room, we can feel the AC from downstairs....this house is literally evil.  The entire rest of the house is freezing except for our room.  We shall now be sleeping in the living room.

The boyfriend's brother tells us we should go buy curtains to block out the sun during the day and keep in the cool but it's too expensive :(  I'm guessing it would cost about $50.  I think I can sleep in my own sweat for $50.

Looking through our cupboards, shelves, and refrigerators and remembered that Auntie Princess brought us mashed potatoes!  So the boyfriend cooked it......(thanks Auntie!!!!).......and that's all he cooked.  I was like "ummmm we need to have something to go with that boyfriend."  So we came up with pees....that's lame, we need meat.  We had to dig down deep in the boyfriend's brother's extremely filled freezer but we eventually found ham....and it was good.

I feel so healthy.  Much better than my lunch of ice cream sandwiches :D
When it is time for bed, I really just don't feel like walking up the steps to our room and the boyfriend is so hot anyways so we decide to seriously sleep in the living room.  Uncomfortable, sure.  But we finally weren't all that hot.  Much cooler down here.

Day 26: Monday

I always do such awkward things when I sleep in public.  One time, I was on a cargo airplane, therefore there were only like 5 people on the plane, and I wake up and I like scratch my inner thigh and I had to scratch hard since I was wearing jeans and sure enough, the pilot was standing right in front of me.  Well same thing this morning.  I'm all sleeping in the living room and I wake up wanting to scratch my stomach and I lift my shirt up forgetting that I was in the living room or thinking everyone is asleep and sure enough, the boyfriend's brother is coming down the stairs which are right above where I'm sleeping.

Clearly, I'm not really awake at this point but he doesn't know that and he tries to talk to me.  Apparently he gives up and wakes up the boyfriend and I catch pieces of what he is saying.  He is telling us to go buy curtains and he hands us a gift card to go buy them with.  He is waaaaay too nice.  I was definitely going to have to go buy the curtains since it was so hot that we were too lazy to make it to our room.

But we're not going to turn the gift card away so off to Walmart we go :D  We have to go to Office Max first to print out several copies of the boyfriend's resume and put it in a a fancy folder and then we go to Walmart and buy some curtains.  Boyfriend also receives a text from the man he is going to interview with!  So awesome that he is already getting texted.  He REALLY wants the job now.

After Walmart, we went home to put up the curtains since we had a lot of time before we had to leave for the interview.  This is where I would post photos of our new curtains but turns out....we suck at it.  The boyfriend knows how to use a drill so I am guessing we just didn't have the right attachment or something because we were able to drill the screw partially in the wall and then he had to manually screw the rest in.  Well at some point, that is no good because it takes A LOT of strength.  We couldn't get it in far enough...so we screwed another hole into the wall......long story short, there are like 5 holes in the wall and I'm thinking we're going to need another gift card.......

The first of many holes.........
Boyfriend's interview is at 5:45 pm so we leave the house promptly at 4.  Oh my goodness it is far.  GPS says it will take an hour and 15 minutes to get there >_<.  Longest drive EVER.  Parking was terrible, people are double parking each other.  The boyfriend got out of the car and his future employer wasn't even there yet haha  I was pretty sure that he was still on set or something though so no big deal.  But another person who was to interview with him, and wearing everyday clothes, was also waiting.

See how that girl is dressed?  Press on the picture and make it bigger.  See the difference between her and him?  Is this how people dress here in California??  The person at the door is the interviewer so dress once he gets the job will definitely be casual.
He finally showed up at 5:35 pm and had the boyfriend wait outside while he interviewed the other person that was there.  Reason being that it is a one room office and he wants to interview them separately.  So the boyfriend spends 20 minutes outside talking to me, who is sitting in the car and taking a million photos of him:

GO BOYFRIEND GOOO!!!!!

Then it was really funny because after the interview was over, he sent the boyfriend in and then he told the boyfriend to hold on and he went outside to go talk story with some random chick for literally 5 minutes.  So the boyfriend took some pictures for my blog :)

There are three clocks because he has three offices, one in LA (of course), one in New York, and one in Italy!

He finally goes back in and I believe they interview for about 10-15 minutes.  The boyfriend comes out very happy and sure he has gotten the job! YAY!!!  Also, while it is not a paid internship, if he spearheads projects and does a lot of work on projects then he will get bonuses and stuff like that.  Also, his assistant just got a full time position at another company so if she decides to leave his company, than maybe the boyfriend, after demonstrating his awesomeness, can assume that paid position.  So many possibilities :)

The ride home was definitely at least an hour and a half though.  Thank goodness experience is invaluable.

Well that's the end of these adventures.  The boyfriend will hear back from the job interview after the 4th of July weekend so we will be super anxious until then!!!

Also, today was my mom's first day of school at Wayland Baptist!!!!  And she skipped a class already.  Nice mommy nice.  hahaha long story...........
Sooooooo proud!!!!  Congrats mommy!!
And now I go back to watching Avengers :)
