Everybody Loves the Boyfriend

Day 31: Sunday

MY SKIN IS AS DRY AS A TUMBLEWEED!!!!!  Below is a photo of me:

I miss Hawaii where the air was so moist I would suffocate to death and didn't have to constantly buy lotion 

:(  Oh the charmed life.  Here it is just desert and an endless supply of lotion *SOB.*  By endless, I mean I have one tiny bottle of lotion of course, Ariale ain't got money fo mo den dat.  Word.

I am also starting to get a mini fro.....I don't know how many combs I've broken trying to comb through it....and I'm pretty sure there are pieces still in there.  I hope I've sufficiently distracted you enough to the point that you don't realize that I have absolutely no recollection of what I did on Sunday.  I'm pretty sure there was no Sunday.  Pretty sure the world just spun faster on Monday and made up for Sunday.  Good deduction skills Ariale.  Add that to your resume (I just assume that's what you're thinking.  Because I have good deduction skills remember?  I deduced that from that previous statement, you came to the conclusion that you think I have great deduction skills).  

Anyways, so then it was Monday........

Day 32: Monday

I have gotten into the habit of sleeping in until as late as 9am and then I absolutely cannot go back to sleep.  Doesn't matter if I went to bed at 3am; as soon as it is 9am, I am AWAKE.  Reason being: business hours are 9am to 6pm here and having worked in an office, I know that the first thing business people want to do on Monday morning when they have a super busy week ahead of them and a million things to do is review my resume.  I mean it's like a frikking novel by now.  Writing this blog has made me realize all my star qualities that simply can't be captured in a one-page resume.  (Resume boost: Never compromises!!)

Oh that's right, it's the boyfriend who has an interview not me....let me get to talking about his star qualities :D  So he applied for this social media internship job thingy and after calling them to try and setup and interview, it seemed that they might prefer him for another position that included video production stuff that they had just posted.  So after yelling at the boyfriend for applying for a social media position, which happens to fall under Advertising and Public Relations, which HAPPENS to be the name of my degree, I congratulate him on getting an interview :)  His interview is at 12:30ish (seriously, his interviewer said to come in whenever as long as it was after 12) and he wakes up at like 11 to me poking him in the face saying "Whatchadoin?"  I was awake at 9, how am I supposed to entertain myself any longer?  

Blah, blah, blah, he gets ready and then wahlah!!!!  We are in the area of his interview place.  It is soooooooo nice!!!  I want to live there.  For serial.  I took some actually pretty nice photos of some of the flowers there:

I don't know why, but California likes to put fountains in front of a lot of things.  It's like they're sucking all the moisture out of my skin and putting it into the fountains >_<  True Story.  I'm really loving all the fountains though.  

The building he interviewed in was right next to a road.....magical I know.  That's why I provided a photo:

Well after I was done admiring the scenery and taking photos of things for entertainment, I got in the car and sat there waiting.....contemplating the meaning of....ice cream, I want ice cream.  When he came out he told me that it went great!!!  They are currently building the studio so they can't technically hire anyone yet but when they are done, they will let him know.  Apparently they will be done in 3 days so we will expect a call on Friday!  Time to go to Denny's to celebrate!!!!

I LOVE DENNY'S!!!!  Why?  Because of their lovely $2$4$6 menu where I find an awesome meal for $2 :D  

Speaking of cheap-o-holics, there was a DOLLAR TREE RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!!!!!

I HAD to go!  There is no such thing in Hawaii.  At most they can have a $5-store-because-we-had-to-ship-it-all-here-and-the-cost-to-keep-this-place-open-is-EXPENSIVE.

I was so excited!  I wasn't sure if I had died and gone to heaven....because in heaven, I'd still be poor and dirt cheap.  Logic.  So to give you an EXACT description of what proceeded afterwards, please enjoy some photos:

I think I pissed off a few people in the store due to my obsession with the fact that everything was a dollar.  The boyfriend shouldn't have unleashed me upon that store.  He knows I have a problem.

We followed that up with Target which was a snooze-fest because there was almost nothing for a dollar.  Why would I pay more than a dollar for anything now?  Psssssh please.  

On the way home, I checked my email while the boyfriend was chauffeuring me home (he wanted to celebrate having a great interview by doing everything for me of course) and I got an email from a job I applied for.  Basically they said I made it to round two and now I needed to complete their challenge.  Now here is where I usually whine and complain but I can't because I want the job so I will say that it is great to be challenged and I can't wait to see what I produce!!! >_<

We get to the house and for all of one minute and what do you know, another job calls the boyfriend >_<  COME ON California.  I'M HERE TOO!  It was pretty cool, he put his resume up on a site like monster.com or something and a temp agency saw his resume and connected him with an employer.  He previously worked as an office assistant and an assistant to lawyers so he looks pretty good to employers :)  We are pretty sure he'll get the job with e-homes.com but just in case, he set up a Skype interview with them for Tuesday.

Even though we are totally in love and supportive of each other, I spent the rest of the day looking for jobs so that I could beat the boyfriend!!  I WILL WIN!!  Not that it's a competition.........love him........

Day 33: Tuesday

The boyfriend's Skype interview is today so we wake up and and he has to be gorgeous (at least from the waist up) by 11 while I'm on the other side feeding him information if he needs it.  FUN!  His interview goes great and then I'm awesome and make him blur French toast.  Yeah, recipe for that is french toast and the world's worst camera >_<

I had never made french toast before so it mostly tasted like bread and eggs.  But I liked it and the boyfriend said he did so mission accomplished!  I just needed to find a way to make it sweeter!  MORE CINNAMON!  A little later, I got an email from two internships.  One of them was asking for more information and the other one was asking for my availability for a phone interview.  I replied to the one with the phone interview and then took FOREVER to reply to the one that wanted more information.  Got an interview on the phone with the internship on Wednesday at 10:30 :)  

While waiting for a response from the second internship, the job that the boyfriend interviewed with via Skype got back to him and set up an in-face interview on Wednesday at 11.  Hmmm wasn't I doing something on Wednesday at a similar time?  Eh.....I'm sure I'll remember eventually.

Eventually I got a reply to my email from the internship and he said that I could either call him before 6 because he had a little time or I could set up an appointment to call him the next day or the next day.  It was 5:30 so I decided to go ahead and call him.  We talked for some time but then he had to go because he had people visiting him and so we set up an appointment to finish the phone interview on Wednesday at 11:30.  Man I swear I had something to do already  on Wednesday.........oh well, that'll be future Ariale's problem.

Meanwhile, I spent the whole day apparently torturing the boyfriend because I was using his computer to complete the "challenge" that the internship wanted me to complete and I was taking FOREVER.   He told me it LITERALLY pained him to watch me work because everything I was doing could take him 10 minutes.  Meanie face.  I unfortunately don't get regular access to the Adobe Suite so it is like I have to re-learn everything every time I do.  And I haven't used Adobe Suite 6 much yet so it was a little harder.  And on top of THAT, I was using his laptop, not a desktop computer so I think I have justified that enough :)

Day 34: Wednesday

Interview day!!  So by now I've realized that we have three interviews within an hour.  What's worse, is that the boyfriend's interview is an actual interview so my interviews will have to be done in the car.  Oh snap.  So 30 minutes into the car ride, I get the phone call and I have a really good interview.  Apparently they received 200 applications and they narrowed it down to about 30 and I was one of them.  That was pretty cool.  I wasn't going to even apply because it said applicants must be enrolled at an accredited University.  I feel awesome.  Apparently I have AMAZING writing skills :D  I get off the phone just in time to wish the boyfriend good luck on his interview and then completely forget to take pictures :/  I wait for an hour for my next interview and then I call my interviewer again......right as my boyfriend comes back from his interview.  So my interviewer talked to me for an HOUR.  One hour, sitting in the super hot car.  Boyfriend was SO PISSED.  He is wanting to tell me about the interview but I am STILL TALKING hahaha.  We are finally done talking and set up a lunch interview on Monday.  Then I am finally able to hear how the boyfriend's interview went.  Apparently that went great too!  It is a 6-month temp job and if they like him, he can continue to work there and become a regular employee.  Of course that wouldn't happen because we are here for video productions but that would be a great fall back job for now.

After we had three great interviews, it was time to go home and get to work.  If you recall, I had an assignment to prove myself that I was uber-excited about.  Took me three straight days but with my determination and my boyfriend's constant insults and nagging, I finally finished it!

Pretty cute I think but their instructions for what to do were pretty ambiguous and they said if you had questions, just be creative so I have a feeling that it's not exactly what they were asking for.  Still love it though :)  Finally have some graphic design stuff to put in my own portfolio!

In addition, my step-dad is an artist still building up an audience and since the boyfriend has 8,000 followers on his Tumblr blog, we asked the step-dad if he could draw a pokemon so he can put it on his blog.  We were hoping that if the boyfriend's followers see it, they might commission the step-dad to draw for them. The step-dad however only draws grey tone drawings due to the cost of markers and the grey tones probably wouldn't go over very well with the Tumblr followers so the boyfriend offered to color them in!  He wasn't able to do them on Tuesday because I had commandeered (Thanks Jack Sparrow for a more smartical way to say stole) his computer.  He finally got to it today though and here are the results!

For Thursday, we planned to go to Disneyland because we are pretty sure one or both of us will be employed during the coming week and I have been pretty bummed these past few weeks.  So the boyfriend really wanted to take me to the happiest day on Earth!!  We really REALLY needed a discount though so we decided to try and go to the base where they have a travel office that gives discounts on several different tours and tourist destinations.  We went to March Air Reserve Base but I didn't take pictures because it's a secret shhhhhhhhhhh.

When we came back, we planned to go to sleep at about 10 so we could get plenty of sleep.  See, the only way I could justify spending so much money when we don't currently have jobs even though we are sure we will have one soon is by saying we would be there from open to close so we could fully get our money's worth.  

We went to bed at 1am.
